L'action d'Hydraulique Sans Frontières

In these six villages, the current systems do not allow residents to access water of sufficient quality or quantity. Depending on the village, residents spend between 1 and 2 hours daily to collect both potable and non-potable water.
Currently, water sourcing varies across the area: Some residents fetch water from a well in Hognokondji, where the water is of very poor quality and insufficient. Others rely on wells constructed during previous phases of the Tomety project in distant villages (over 1 km away).
The village of Kokouhoe uses the Edanhoé and Lotoè streams. In Agodomé, an initial water resource assessment conducted in 2022 showed that the four village wells are silted up, collapsed, and dry up during the dry season. Rehabilitation would be extremely dangerous and maintenance is impossible. Despite this, these wells are still in use. During the dry season, inhabitants must travel approximately 4 km to another village for water.
Regarding sanitation, there are no public or private latrines in these villages. Open defecation is the norm, which contributes to the degradation of water resources and the spread of diseases.
