Hydraulique Sans Frontières (HSF) is an international development and solidarity NGO, founded in 1990, that works to ensure equitable access to drinking water by providing technical support to local partner associations in developing countries.
HSF is based in Chambéry, France, with six employees and two offices in Lyon and Bordeaux, as well as around forty active volunteers throughout France.
Each year, HSF carries out about ten projects in West African countries. These projects are conducted in collaboration with local communities, respecting their culture and needs, and adhering to the principles of solidarity, participation, and sustainability.
Our goal is to guarantee sustainable access to clean water and sanitation, while promoting health and hygiene education.
Through its projects, the organization enables hundreds of villagers each year to obtain sustainable infrastructure such as boreholes, wells, and latrines in the heart of their villages.
These projects significantly contribute to reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases by limiting the consumption of contaminated water and open defecation. By facilitating access to water, HSF also frees up valuable time for women and children.
Less tired from fetching water, women can now dedicate themselves to income-generating activities. As for children, they are less likely to be sick and absent from school.
